A Prayer for Priests
Keep them, I pray Thee, dearest Lord,
Keep them, for they are Thine -
Thy priests whose lives burn out before
Thy consecrated shrine.
Keep them, for they are in the world,
Though from the world apart;
When earthly pleasures tempt, allure -
Shelter them in Thy heart.
Keep them, and comfort them in hours
Of loneliness and pain,
When all their lives of sacrifice
For souls seems but in vain.
Keep them, and O remember, Lord,
They have no one but Thee,
Yet they have only human hearts,
With human frailty.
Keep them as spotless as the Host,
That daily they caress;
Their every thoughts and word and deed,
Deign, dearest Lord, to bless.
Imprimatur: D. Cardinal Dougherty, Arch. of Philadelphia.
Our Father, Who art in Heaven, Hallowed be Thy name. Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.
Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with Thee. Blessed art Thou among women and blessed is the fruit of Thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen.
Mary, Queen of the Clergy, pray for them.
THE PRIESTHOOD IS A MASTERPIECE OF CHRIST'S DIVINE LOVE , WISDOM AND POWER.
In San Damiano, Italy on August 14, 1965, Jesus Christ told Mama Rosa Quattrini, "Pray for the priests. Pray with might and do not cease praying, for the devil wants their downfall. Pray, My sons, you who are close to me."
