Andrew Avellino was born at Castronuovo, In Naples, Italy in 1521. After earning doctorates in both civil and canon law, he was ordained and was assigned to work in the ecclesiastical courts.
in 1556, Andrew took up pastoral work. Later, he joined the Theatines in Naples. At one time, he was named superior there, and he worked hard to improve the quality of the community.
In 1570, Andrew founded houses in Milan and Piacenza where his reform policies were successful. in 1582, he went back to Naples and lived out his life there, ministering to the people with great compassion and effecting many conversions. He died in Naples on November 10, 1608.
